It must have been popular because there are now so many pubs along the Quayside that some are literally next door to one another! No wonder then that back in the days when the Royal Navy press gangs stalked the town it was so easy to find ready victims - the locals were probably too drunk to fight off the King's men and simply woke up with a sore head on-board a British warship. This is a historic pub so definitely worth a visit, but it is a little cramped and hard seating makes it difficult to properly rest up, lay anchor and relax.September 19, 2016
